Golf Australia are less than a month away from one of their biggest changes in the history of handicapping administration, with the launch of their new technology platform on October 2, 2025.
This once-in-a-generation change will see GA transition away from the 25-year-old GOLF Link system to a new, modern platform that delivers enhanced services to Australia’s 1,900 golf clubs and venues, and the more than 450,000 golf members around the country.
For golfers, there are three key changes coming on October 2:
1. The new Official Golf Australia App
This will replace the existing GA Handicap App. The new app retains the handicap lookup feature you already use, while adding a range of exciting tools to enhance your golfing experience. The app will be available to update or download from October 2.
2. A fresh golfer portal at the new home of golf in Australia - GOLF.com.au
Also launching on October 2, Golf Australia and the PGA of Australia’s new website will feature a streamlined, mobile-friendly golfer dashboard. Through your account, you’ll be able to view and track your GA Handicap history like never before.
3. GOLF Link number becomes Golf ID
Members’ old GOLF Link numbers will now become your permanent Golf ID for life. Unlike GOLF Link, where the number changed if you moved clubs, a Golf ID stays with members wherever they play. For new golfers, registering for a Golf ID is free, and it provides instant access to the Official Golf Australia App and a personalised golfer portal on GOLF.com.au. Existing GOLF Link members will need to verify their new Golf ID when the system goes live on Oct 2.
What you need to do before October 2
Check your golf.org.au account details are up to date.
- If you don’t already have an account and you want to view your handicap history online or use the new app, create an account at golf.org.au.
- If you need to change the email address associated with your account, please register for a new account here: www.golf.org.au/registration
- From October 2, golf.org.au will automatically redirect to the new GOLF.com.au website.
Important transition dates
To allow for this major upgrade, there will be an offline period from the evening of September 28 through to October 2, when the new app and website go live. The transition for some clubs may extend through until October 10. During this period, rounds of golf played cannot be handicapped or submitted. Clubs are reviewing their golfing calendars with this in mind.
Support for golfers
As with any major technology transition, there will be some initial steps required. Golf Australia’s goal is to make this as smooth as possible. To help:
Golfer Onboarding Champions will be available at clubs from October 2 to assist members with any transition issues. More than 1,100 have been recruited nationally so far to provide on-the-ground support.
Golf Australia’s Customer Service Centre will also be expanded to provide direct support to golfers during the transition phase. The Helpdesk will be available seven days a week at help@golf.com.au, and 03 7037 0400.
With any major technology change, there is likely to be some challenges in the early stages. Our goal is to make the transition as smooth as possible for all golfers, with clear instructions, expanded support and on-the-ground assistance at clubs.
